Station Casinos is like many other land-based casino companies that are struggling in the current economy. Online gambling has also become a hindrance on land-based casinos, and that may be why Stations has decided to sue two online website operators.

Station has filed a lawsuit against S.L. Enterprises and Ryan Murphy, a UK resident. The two accused operate the websites vegasstationcasino.com and stationcasino.org, respectively. Station Casinos is contending that the websites are using their brand name to send traffic to online casinos.

The company also contends that the two websites are attracting customers through web searches and that the customers may be looking for Station Casinos. That will be a difficult thing to prove should the case actually make it to a trial.

Land-based casino companies have always been opponents of Internet gambling, fearing that the online casinos are pulling business from the casinos on land. In recent years, however, some of the biggest gaming operators have started to change their stance on Internet gambling.

Harrah's Entertainment has launched several online casinos in jurisdictions where Internet gambling is regulated. The company is possibly preparing for law changes in the US, where legislators are attempting to create a regulated system of online gambling.

Wynn Resorts is one company that remains against any regulations in the US for online gambling. Senator Harry Reid has opposed legislation regarding online gambling, but recently his office has acknowledged that the senator would be open to online poker regulations.
