Foxwoods Foxwoods Development Co. understands that competition is coming in the Northeast when it comes to casino gambling. That may be a reason the company has now entered into an agreement on a joint venture involving online casinos.
In the Northeast, many states have expanded their casino industries in recent years, which has led to a decrease in business at Connecticut casinos. Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun have both been hurt by the competition, and earlier this month, they made a move to stay ahead of the curve.
Velocity Gaming has been created by Foxwoods and Goodson Gaming. The latter is a well-known for producing such game shows as "Family Feud" and "The Price is Right." With that gaming background, along with Foxwoods' expertise in casino gambling, the two make a formidable pair.
Foxwoods acknowledged the joint venture, but would not comment on whether the partnership was in preparation of possible upcoming US online gambling regulations. The company only stated that their venture would begin in jurisdictions where online gambling is already regulated.
Velocity Gaming will set its sights on merging television games hows, global lotteries, and of course, casino gambling. Foxwoods is already one of the most well-known casino gambling brands in the world. Foxwoods is owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe.
Gaming Solutions International's Mark Hutchinson will be the brains behind the lottery, while Foxwoods will bring their casino expertise to the table. Goodson Will be responsible for handling the television end of the venture.
