Regulations Coming?
Regulations Coming?
The online gaming community only wants what other industries already have the rights to. They want to do their business and make their money without the government labeling them felons.

The current administration in the White House has done everything possible to ensure that they keep Internet gambling from being legal. The one thing they have not done, however, is create an outright law that defines what is or is not legal betting online.

With the end of a torturous eight years for the online gaming community about to come to an end, there is joy among those involved that a new administration will be taking over.

"I'm just glad that President Obama has stated that he wants to protect the Internet. He believes that there should be rights afforded to Internet businesses, and that's refreshing after President Bush and his administration have tried to infringe on those rights," said Bradley Simon, a political analyst.

It is not yet known how long it will take President Obama and his staff to overturn the soon to be law regarding Internet gambling. The UIGEA was put in place back in 2006, and this past week the Treasury Department published rules governing the UIGEA.

The rules do not necessarily ban Internet gambling, but the perception around the country will be that online gaming is illegal. The new administration will begin their work trying to pass laws that will regulate the industry, not isolate it.
