Barney Frank Online casinos have been eagerly awaiting word from Representative Barney Frank as to when he will move forward with his online gambling legislation in the US. On Sunday, the industry may get some of the answers they are looking for.
Frank is scheduled to be a special guest at the World Series of Poker on Sunday. He will be the ring leader that will start the day's Main Event play, but more importantly he will field questions from journalists.
"We may find out a lot more about when and where he is going next with his gambling legislation," says observer Jack Nemer, "how in depth Frank will get we don't know, but we do know that at least the right questions will be asked."
Among those questions will be how strong of a chance Frank believes he has this time around. Frank has previously tried to overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act last year, but Republicans blocked his efforts.
This year, the balance of power has shifted to the Democrats, and Frank has gained major support from politicians over the past year. People in the US are demanding that the laws be changed and that they receive the right to play online poker and other casino games.
Frank has proposed two new Bills that would change the face of Internet gambling in the US. The main legislation, Bill H.R. 2267, sets the framework for legalizing and regulating online gambling in the country.
