Representative Barney Frank stood in front of the people he is representing, about 1,700 poker players, on Sunday, and he delivered the message that they had hoped they would hear. Online poker, and online gambling in general, are rights that people in the US have and they need to be protected.

Frank was in a comfort zone, of sorts, when he spoke on Sunday at the World series of Poker. He would be far-fetched to find anyone at this event that would question his views. If anything, Frank was able to see first-hand, how important the game of poker is to Americans.

"This was an exciting event today," said online player Brian Grat, "Representative Frank has been such a hero to all of us online casino players, and his presence at the WSOP is just uplifting. Hopefully he was inspired enough to move quickly with his legislation."

Frank has offered two Bills to lawmakers in the past few months pertaining to online gambling. The first Bill would delay the rules from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act from going into effect in December. Frank proposed this legislation to ensure that the proper research is completed regarding the rules and the effects they will have.

The second piece of legislation is the big one for the online gambling industry. Frank is seeking to legalize and regulate Internet gambling with proposed Bill H.R. 2267. The Bill is receiving tremendous support from lawmakers, with forty co-sponsors already.

Even the opponents of online gambling legislation believe that this will be a train that will be hard to slow down. Rep. Spencer Bacchus, who was part of the group of Republicans that slyly snuck the UIGEA into a port security Bill back in 2006, believes the Democrats and even Republican online gambling supporters will be prepared for the battle this time around.
